Good Jobs Now (GJN), a grassroots membership based organization that fights for economic and social justice for low-income Detroiters of color, is seeking a Field Coordinator for our Organizing Fellowship that can play a critical role in rebuilding neighborhood power in the city.  We are currently focused on fighting campaigns to:

  • End mass incarceration and invest in job opportunities

  • Create affordable, dignified housing for all

  • Halt climate change and transition to a just, green economy

  • Create a public school system that is safe and fully funded across Michigan

GJN Field Coordinator will receive extensive training, mentorship, and leadership development and have the opportunity for upward mobility throughout the organization.

Position Description:

Field Coordinator is a full-time paid position.

The GJN Fellowship is a 5 month long project.

Under the mentorship and supervision of the Good Jobs Now’s team, the Canvass Lead will be tasked with managing a team of canvassers that engage in extensive voter outreach into the community to register, educate and mobilize voters for the coming 2018 elections in Metro-Detroit.

The GJN Field Coordinator will be connected with other professional development and job opportunities as Alumni of the program.

Requirements and Expectations:

Field Coordinator’s responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Building, training and managing a team of dynamic field canvassers

  • Supporting an inclusive and respectful work culture

  • Establishing a set of metrics and accountability measures that will help the campaign achieve its goals

  • Recruiting and developing volunteer leaders

  • Implementing new technology to streamline door-to-door organizing and strategically capture data

Field Coordinator must:

  • Be effective working with a culturally, religiously, and economically diverse group of partners, members, and staff

  • Be responsible, timely, and committed to professionalism

  • Be an effective communicator who is comfortable working with the public, talking to strangers, and asking people to take action

  • Be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time

  • Be motivated to make change

Compensation and Directions to Apply:

Full-time Field Coordinator will receive a temporary salary that will be consummate with experience.

Applicants should have some basic familiarity with social justice issues and a passion for social justice work. Applicants should have basic understanding of field work and enthusiasm for leadership development. Applicants should be prepared for a fast-paced work environment that requires a high-level of autonomy.
