About Good Jobs Now: Good Jobs Now (GJN), a grassroots membership based organization that fights for political, economic and social justice for low-income Detroiters of color. Good Jobs Now is building our organizing team and is seeking a Digital Communications Coordinator to play a critical role in building political power for low and moderate-income Detroiters of color. The Digital Communications Coordinator will be responsible for producing a high level of quality work as they help to augment GJN’s campaigns with economic justice messaging and content. Through a mixture of traditional communication and modern digital organizing that’ll emphasize text and social media follow-ups, the Digital Communications Coordinator will advance our issue and electoral strategy for 2018 and beyond.

This is a full-time position with tremendous opportunity for growth. This position reports to Branden Snyder, Executive Director of Good Jobs Now.

GJN Digital Communications Coordinator is a full-time paid position. Salary will be consummate with experience.

Candidates must be able to:

  • Execute digital follow ups via text and email program from leads produced by canvass efforts.

  • Ensure that communications materials, validators, and assets are in step with overall strategic plan and goals;

  • Monitoring social media and new local digital channels from across the political and non-political spectrum;

  • Exploring and executing cutting edge, interactive ways of communicating with key audiences online;

  • Working with the Political Fellowship,Organizing Team and Membership Canvass to identify and collect stories;

  • Following up, vetting, and training storytellers to spread their message online, in the local media, and statewide using Public Narrative framework;

  • Producing written content as needed under tight deadlines;

  • Assisting in the development and implementation of earned media plans, building media events, and garnering significant press coverage;

  • Help train staff to communicate on issues affecting communities of interest among members;

  • Ability to occasionally travel as required in performance of duties;

  • Other duties as assigned.

Applicants should have some basic familiarity with social justice issues and a passion for social justice work and the city of Detroit. Applicants should be prepared for a fast-paced work environment that requires a high-level of autonomy.
