Position Location: NYC or Washington, DC strongly recommended. It is possible to work remotely for the right candidate but frequent travel to Washington, DC will be required.

About The Fight Back Team
The Fight Back Team at CPD & CPD Action (CPD/A) is committed to rapid response, direct action oriented campaigns that hold the line against the most egregious attacks on poor and working class communities, primarily communities of color, that are being proposed. The Fight Back Team works to organize the unorganized, in concert with CPD/A affiliates, and works on issues such as national immigration, healthcare, voting rights, tax reform and infrastructure. The Fight Back team works closely with CPD/A’s federal advocacy team to advance proactive federal level policies.
About the Position
The National Field Organizer for Fight Back is responsible for supporting the development and implementation of the Fight Back program with CPD/A affiliates and national allies. The National Field Organizer for Fight Back will help define metrics for program success, experiment with new tools and approaches, and share these practices across the organization. The National Field Organizer for Fight Back will deploy to the field to support CPD/A and CPD/A affiliate actions that are part of our work resisting an authoritarian, anti-worker, anti-immigrant agenda driven by the White House, Congress and their corporate backers. In consultation with the fight back team, the National Field Organizer for Fight Back supports partners' tactical needs for executing high quality events, activities and actions. While deployed to a partner organization, the National Field Organizer for Fight Back works closely with and takes direction from, affiliate lead organizers and directors. The National Field Organizerfor Fight Back reports to the Director of Mobilization and Advocacy.
DEPLOYMENT AND TACTICAL SUPPORT - The National Field Organizer will travel to embed with CPD/A affiliates that are planning resistance activities or support resistance mobilizations. While embedded the National Field Organizer for Fight Back will provide needed assistance identified by the fight back team, CPD affiliates or local coalitions. This work may include the use of peer to peer texting, turn out, phone banking, canvassing, as well as, logistics support, social media and communications assistance among other support activities. National Field Organizer will also do trainings and mobilize members of the Birddog Nation.
FIGHT BACK COORDINATION - In close collaboration with and direction from the DMA, the National Field Organizer for Fight Back will support the fight back team in building and maintaining relationships with CPD/A affiliates and allies that enable the work to move forward, which may include the coordination of calls, communication, outreach and follow up, and management of junior staff or field interns.
Field Innovation Program (FIP) IMPLEMENTATION & EVALUATION - The National Field Organizer for Fight Back will help partners build capacity, power, and organizing infrastructure through the set up and implementation of CPD/A's multi-channel organizing project. The National Field Organizer for Fight Back, in coordination with the FIP team and at the direction of the National Field Organizer for Fight Back and the Director of Mobilization and Advocacy will work with partners to develop shared goals and metrics for membership growth, align organizing models with robocalls, peer to peer texting, and targeted canvassing, among other mass outreach and list building tools, and track the progress of FIP pilots and experiments.
CROSS-DEPARTMENTAL COLLABORATION - The National Field Organizer for Fight Back will act as the bridge between other campaigns and programmatic teams within CPD to ensure meaningful cross-team collaboration and deepened organizational impact
FUNDRAISING AND REPORTING - The National Field Organizer for Fight Back is responsible for supporting regular reporting and proposal writing and individual fundraising support for the overall Fight Back work.
Participate in organizational meetings, respond to emails and fulfill administrative practices and tasks, as needed.
- Minimum 5 years campaigning experience (policy, labor or community, or electoral)
- Experience with direct action tactics and ability to work in a fast paced environment.
- Ability to facilitate workshops on organizing and advocacy tactics
- Experience leading winning policy campaigns with national significance or impact;
- Understanding of issues facing communities of color, women and low-and moderate-income families;
- Experience building and working with broad-based issue coalitions;
- Advanced experience in training, coaching and developing organizers and campaigners;
- Comfort, and some areas of expertise, implementing a range of campaign strategies and tactics, including policy, corporate accountability, direct action and civic engagement;
- Excellent communication, writing, and organizational skills;
- Self-motivated and dedicated – proven ability to work independently and overcome obstacles;
- Ability to work well with diverse organizations and communities.
- Ability to travel is a must.
