The Center for Popular Democracy/CPD Action is seeking a full-time Data Director for our Base Building Team.

The Center for Popular Democracy and CPD Action (together, CPD/A) work to promote equity, opportunity, and a dynamic democracy in partnership with innovative base-building organizations, organizing networks and alliances, and progressive unions across the country. About the Position

The Center for Popular Democracy and Center for Popular Democracy Action (CPD/A) seeks a Base Building Team Data Director (BBDD). 

The BBDD’s primary responsibility is to build, manage and execute systems for data collection, analysis and reporting for an ambitious member organizing program in tandem with our affiliates and CPD/A staff. This expansive and experimental program seeks to build a mass membership base through a variety of digital and in-person action and activity. The BBDD supports the integration of information from multiple campaigns, electoral work, digital action and mass outreach efforts. The BBDD will use our EveryAction CRM and other digital tools to support the running of a data driven, robust, multi-state field organizing program.

In service of the main goal, the role includes identifying best data practices to simplify reporting and experiment implementation, developing tools and resources needed for targeting, goal setting, and program planning. The BBDD will manage multiple projects connecting states and national data programs, including building support systems for affiliates and responding to help requests in EveryAction. The BBDD works closely with the field team, affiliates and data directors to establish effective systems to track and evaluate progress to goal for the organization, staff, affiliates and partners.

We are looking for someone with hands-on experience with a combination of the following: database management for organizing, CRM training and support for field staff, familiarity with digital organizing, training, and management in support of field, electoral, and issue campaigns.  This is a full time position and will report directly to the Basebuilding Organizing Director.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Work directly with CPD/A affiliates to help create organizing data architecture, help track organizing outcomes and goals, effectively use data analysis tools with organizers and campaigners to develop organizing programs;

  • Work with the IT Team & other CPD/A Data Directors to guarantee that data is stored securely and optimally, maintaining the integrity and performance of organization databases as well as, Install, upgrade, and manage database applications/tools; 

  • Manage day to day data needs of the project such as: bulk data uploads as needed; maintaining database standards for the organizing and base building team; granting database access for the organizing and base building team; building dashboards and reporting tools to report on our organizing work; diagnosing database errors; and informing end users of changes in databases and training them to utilize systems;

  • Manage tracking and reporting for different toolsets, including Organizer support and data management to ensure proper and timely completion of goals and contact follow-up; 

  • Cut lists and turf for canvassing, phone and text banking, etc. from various sources including but not limited to CRM, VAN, Civis, TargetSmart etc.; 

  • Work across departments to support implementation of tracking;

  • Innovate and experiment ways of leveraging technology to make good organizing happen;

Job Requirements:

  • 7+ years, working with databases and a variety of digital tools and platforms. Proficiency in using several of the following platforms and tools to accomplish organizing goals: EveryAction or equivalent CRM, Hustle or other p2p text program, Facebook Messenger, Facebook Ads, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook Pages, VAN, Civis Platform, Action Network, Wordpress, SMS platforms, Facebook Analytics and Google Analytics.

  • Familiarity with digital organizing, including volunteer recruitment and retention online, and planning in support of field, electoral, and issue campaigns;

  • Comfortable with experimentation and data analysis and having a discussion about results from A/B testing; 

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment;

  • Skills in: training, coaching, planning, delegation, and accountability;

  • Demonstrated commitment to racial equity and social justice work;

  • Comfort with independent learning as well as being collaborative; 

  • Comfort with working remotely with team members based all over the country;

  • Fluency in Spanish preferred.

Salary and Benefits

This is a union position. Salary will be determined according to a salary scale which takes into account years’ experience, location, job category, and other factors, but is expected to be $70,000 - $80,000 and category 3. The Collective Bargaining Agreement is available here.
