The Center for Popular Democracy and CPD Action (together, CPD/A) work to promote equity, opportunity, and a dynamic democracy in partnership with innovative base-building organizations, organizing networks and alliances, and progressive unions across the country. We currently work with more than 53 affiliates in 34 states and Puerto Rico, and build the strength and capacity of democratic organizations to envision and advance a pro-worker, pro-immigrant, racial and economic justice agenda. We are a rapidly-expanding, changing organization that partners with organizations across the country to build political power and win tangible victories that improve the lives of low-wage workers, immigrants, and communities of color.

About the Position

The Center for Popular Democracy/CPD Action (CPD/CPDA) is seeking a full-time Digital Organizer to help the network develop, run, and win defund police, police free schools, and other decarceral/justice transformation fights across the country at the federal, state and local levels. The Digital Organizer will work closely with our justice transformation and education justice teams and support our grassroots affiliates to help advance local and national campaigns through a robust digital strategy.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Design and implement a digital organizing strategy that advances campaign goals and builds our base of supporters;

  • Reach out to potential supporters online, engaging them in organizing conversations and developing their leadership;

  • Develop engaging social media content, graphical materials, and compelling emails, petitions, and stories;

  • Engage members to create and upload video content, and edit and curate the content to build a powerful narrative;

  • Build a strong storybank and work with our communications team to elevate the voices of directly impacted people, including young people and formerly incarcerated people;

  • Manage email program, generating high-quality emails that inspire action;

  • Use analytics to improve our messaging, programs and campaign to strengthen impact;

  • Provide coaching and technical assistance to CPD affiliates including through a cohort of digital organizers who are moving local defund efforts.

Job Requirements 

  • At least 4-6 years of organizing and digital campaigning experience; 

  • A demonstrated commitment to social and racial justice organizing, and fluency and understanding of the challenges facing Black and other communities of color, young people of color, immigrant communities, and low-and moderate income families;

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills;

  • Problem-solving perspective and ability to work well in teams;

  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships of trust and mutual respect with broad range of people;

  • Attention to detail and strong project-management skills.

 Salary and Benefits

This is a union position. Salary will be determined according to a salary scale which takes into account years’ experience, location, job category, and other factors, but is expected to be at an annual salary rate of $65,000-$75,000 and Category 2.
