National Civic Engagement Manager
Position Location: Preference for Washington, DC or Brooklyn, NY, but open to remote by home office
The Center for Popular Democracy/CPD Action is seeking a full-time National Civic Engagement Manager.

The Center for Popular Democracy and CPD Action (together, CPD/A) work to promote equity, opportunity, and a dynamic democracy in partnership with innovative base-building organizations, organizing networks and alliances, and progressive unions across the country. We currently work with more than 45 partner organizations in more than 38 states, Puerto Rico, and D.C., and build the strength and capacity of democratic organizations to envision and advance a pro-worker, pro-immigrant, racial and economic justice agenda. We are a rapidly-expanding, changing organization that partners with organizations across the country to build political power and win tangible victories that improve the lives of low-wage workers, immigrants, and communities of color.
About the Position:
We are seeking a National Civic Engagement Manager to join the civic engagement and political team. The National Civic Engagement Manager will design and implement plans to increase civic engagement and strategic political involvement during the electoral season with the goal of elevating our issues and ideology as well organizing a large and sustainable base of activists. This person will work closely with affiliates and across the organization to achieve the organizational goals. The National Civic Engagement Manager will report to the Chief of Civic Engagement/Political Director.
The National Civic Engagement Manager will:
Serve as the lead staffer for priority states for 2020 electoral cycle identifying and confirming civic engagement/electoral needs for each affiliate;
Provide strategic vision to Chief of Civic Engagement and Political Director around field electoral work for primary and general election;
Convene and Facilitate the “Political Directors and Executive Directors Learning Community,” made up of 30-40 political leads from affiliates;
Travel extensively to affiliate organizations to support political plan development, support and implementation;
Provide 1-on-1 strategic and tactical advice to affiliates and to national staff on civic engagement strategies;
Support the consolidation of a “Political Organizing Model” across affiliates and the network as a whole, through consultation, documentation and electoral analysis
Coordinate with CPD/A program staff in other issue areas to find opportunities for aligned work and cross-campaign coordination.
Preferably at least 7 years experience of integrated civic engagement experience at local and state levels;
Commitment to social and racial justice issues, building the power of communities and understanding of challenges facing immigrant communities, communities of color, and low-and moderate income families;
Experience developing annual and multi-year electoral plans for community organizations, including ballot initiatives, independent expenditures for/against candidates, GOTV, voter registration efforts;
Experience with the wide range of electoral tactics employed by community organizations, including canvassing, phonebanking, direct mail, SMS, digital ads, earned media, volunteer and paid operations;
Familiarity with legal frameworks for 501c3 and 501c4 eligible activities
Excellent relationship-building skills with significant experience building and sustaining working relationships across geography and with community leaders and organizers of color;
Experience with front of the room participatory meeting and training facilitation
Significant project management experience and the ability to juggle multiple projects at a time and work in a fast-paced work environment;
Independent self-starter and go-getter who can drive projects and teams internally and externally;
Excellent writing and communication skills;
Experience with fundraising preferred; and
Willingness and ability to travel frequently.

The salary range for this position is competitive and commensurate with experience.
